A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your Kia Sorento
Kia Sorento Problems
One or both head light bulbs may burn out prematurely requiring replacement. There have also been reports of other bulbs burning out often as well.
A defective AC compressor clutch assembly can cause excessive noise or vibration when the air conditioning is on. Improved parts are available. Replacing the faulty clutch assembly does not necessitate replacement of the complete AC compressor or evacuation and recharging of the air conditioning system.
In order to correct a problem that results in difficulty starting, engine vibration, or a rattling sound from the engine compartment, Kia released an updated crankshaft pulley bolt.
Kia Sorento Questions
If I pull up on the right side of the drivers seat it will usually stop as long as I hold preasure. The worst when weather is hot or the heavier the driver. Is there a way to disconnect the sound with out compromising the air bag
I have a 2006 Kia Sorento I bought brand new in 2007. Currently have 92,000 mi.
I have ALWAYS had a thumping noise in the rear end either when I brake or take my foot off the brake. I had this in to the dealer many times starting at about 500 miles and they could never figure it out from day one...
Only way to make it stop is to pull the battery pulling the fuses doesn't do anything
Kia Sorento Recalls
The affected Kia models are being recalled because the brake light switch can fail prematurely, resulting in the loss of brake light operation as well as concerns with other electrical systems including: Cruise control, push-button start feature, shifter, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system. Dealers will replace the brake light switch to correct this concern.
The front passenger airbag may be incorrectly turned off when an adult is in the front passenger seat. The front passenger airbag is designed to be turned off when the front seat is unoccupied or is occupied by a child, but the occupant classification system (OCS) may not correctly classify an adult passenger and command the airbag off when it should be on. If the passenger side airbag is off when an adult passenger is in the front passenger seat, there is an increased risk of personal injury. Dealers will update the programming of the OCS control module to correct this concern. The KIA recall number is SC076A.
The right intermediate drive shaft may suffer from noise and excessive wear due to misalignment with the transmission right side output gear. As the splines on the intermediate shaft wear, a whirring and/or whining noise may develop and eventually result in damage to the automatic transmission output gear. Severe wear of the splines could result in a loss of drive force to the wheels, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the right side output gear and intermediate shaft and replace worn parts as necessary. Alignment of the intermediate shaft will also be inspected and corrected if needed. This recall is expected to begin during May 2011. The Kia recall number is SC089.
Kia Sorento Reviews
The headlights are the only issue, so far. Can't see at all on regular beam. Almost seems like riding around with parking lights. I'm constantly using the brights until I can get this fixed.
I purchased a 2012 Kia Sorento. I do love the car. The exception is the headlights. The dim lights are sooooooo bad!! The high beams should be the low beams. I drive to work at night and have a hard time when other cars are in the opposite lane. I guess I have to pay extra to purchase better lights. I am not happy about this!
ill never buy 1 again!!!!!
