Vehicle May Have a Fuel Leak

A section of fuel line may leak near the fuel tank. This can cause a fire in the presence of an ignition source.


Please contact your Kia dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.


The fuel line near the fuel tank may leak due to an interference fit with the vehicle floor pan. Dealers will replace a section of the fuel line to correct the issue. The recall began on October 5, 2005. The Kia recall number is SC-052.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 2935

Summary: CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE A FUEL LEAK FROM FUEL TUBES NEAR THE FUEL TANK DUE TO AN INTERFERENCE FIT WITH THE VEHICLE FLOOR PANEL.

Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE A SECTION OF THE FUEL LINE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 10, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KIA AT 1-800-333-4542.
