Report: Kia Issues New Alternator to Replace Weak One
Kia Sephia Problem
Model Years Affected: 1999, 2000, 2001
Average Mileage: 122,339 mi (72,000 mi - 172,678 mi)
After the vehicle has been operated with electrical loads (lights, air conditioning), a weak alternator can cause starting difficulties. In some cases, the original alternator could not sufficiently charge the battery; Kia released a new alternator to fix the problem.

six years ago I had to have a new alternator put on my kia sephia (which by the way gets 6 to 10 miles per gallon/gas and eats tires yearly). three years later another alternator, then in July, 2010 another alternator, and guess what??? today, Jan.15,2011 the car died again and surprise, another alternator!!!! Also, every year I owned the car, I had to replace a battery and a set of four tires. this is the bigest lemon i have ever owned and kia won't do a thing about it. My Daughter and I have the same year and model kia's and she has only had to have a new clutch at the nine year mark & gets 30 to 36 miles per gallon of fuel. Mine is automatic, and I can't say enough bad about it. Help!!!!
