    Hi,
This happens on the C70 (and S/V70's too) for a couple reasons. First, check that the shifter is in park, the shift-lock over-ride button is not sticking and the shifter button is not sticking.
Try pushing, jiggling and nudging all these things and see if that helps.
If any of these are sticking, which they all are prone to do, it will cause this problem.
Let me know if that helps!

This is absolutely correct, even if it may take several tries over the course of a day.

I figured mine out - notice the button you push on your shifter? Pull on it till its fully out. When this sticks in even partially, the key will not release... Guaranteed this is your problem...

Check the button on the front of the gear shift. Until it "pops" out the key cannot be removed. You may be able to poke at it until it pops out. It it re-occurs a lot repair it. If rarely, drill a tiny hole (or make a groove) that you can insert a pen tip to lever it out when it sticks
