I found a solution to this in 10 minutes after reading it can cost 400-500 to repair... such a simple/stupid problem that is easy to fix. I'm going to be doing a step by step picture tutorial as its quite simple to pull the root of the problem out to show whoever needs help. please don't pay a mechanic for this as it's very simple to figure out! its a tiny little 5 cent part(hypothetically) not exactly sure how much it costs will let you know.

A temporary fix is to pull out the fuse for the radio, its a common problem with the btis. In order for you to get the car out of park you may also have to use the shift lock

I found this on then click on Common Problems The automatic transmission shifter may fail causing the ignition key to become stuck in the ignition lock cylinder. Sounds like a common failure on these aveo's call the dealer and see if they have a revised shifter assy available.

You can remove the key by pushing shifter all the way to the left and turning the key at the same time, it will release. This problem is caused by a bad solenoid in the shifter assembly and is covered under the powertrain warranty.

it just happened to my car. It happened to be the solenoid.

gear shift problem. Take it to the dealer immediately or have it towed. It will cost you $300 or so to have that replaced.
