2005 Chevrolet Aveo Question: Key Stuck
Answer #1hemicuda March 02, 2009, 14:09Master
I found this on http://repairpal.com/chevrolet-aveo-2005 then click on Common Problems The automatic transmission shifter may fail causing the ignition key to become stuck in the ignition lock cylinder. Sounds like a common failure on these aveo's call the dealer and see if they have a revised shifter assy available.

A temporary fix is to pull out the fuse for the radio, its a common problem with the btis. In order for you to get the car out of park you may also have to use the shift lock

You can remove the key by pushing shifter all the way to the left and turning the key at the same time, it will release. This problem is caused by a bad solenoid in the shifter assembly and is covered under the powertrain warranty.

gear shift problem. Take it to the dealer immediately or have it towed. It will cost you $300 or so to have that replaced.
