Im almost positive my jetta has a blown head gasket and the when I put it in reverse it pops out of gear and grinds. The exterior only has two dents but I am usure whether to repair the car, sell as is, junk it, or sell it piece by piece. The blue book value is about $1900 needing repairs, but I am unsure if it would be worth it to pay the cost of repairs. Also if I sold it "as is" I am usure what asking price should be.
Junk, repair, or sell for parts? on 1998 Volkswagen Jetta

The asking price will be anything that you can get, as your car needs engine work and transmission work, so you may only get a few hundred, like $300-400. If the Transmission works ok in the other gears, you may think(?) about fixing your car, if it has less than 150k, because, $1900 does not buy much these days, except another car that needs repairs. Make SURE that the head gasket is bad, how did you come to this conclusion? I have worked on a lot of VW 2.0 Jetta motors and they don't often blow their head gaskets, at least in my experience.
