My '08 Jeep Patriot eats lower ball joints. The right front was replaced at 36k miles. Left one went out at 43k miles. We called Chrysler to file a complaint and they paid to have it replaced at the dealership . We are now replacing the one the left front once again for third time! I heard the '07s were recalled for these and auto parts store said they can't keep them on the shelves.

Bought it with 54,544 miles 01/2013, no extended warranty was offered, and now at 70,053 transmission is shot.
Giving people a fair warning on this dealership...

A no crank or no start condition may develop due to electronic lockup of the wireless control module (WCM), also referred to as the Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREEM). When this module fails the remote keyless entry system will also not operate. The WCM is commonly replaced to correct this concern.

A rattle type noise may be noted from the AC compressor or the compressor could be damaged due to "slugging" of the refrigerant. The compressor may require replacement to correct this concern. If the compressor is replaced an updated condenser may also be required.

An abnormal noise and/or vibration may be noted from the front brakes during light braking. Our technicians tell us it may be necessary to replace the steering knuckle and hub assembly, along with resurfacing the rotors to correct this concern.

Vehicles equipped with manual transmissions may become difficult to shift. The repair may involve replacing the 3rd/4th/5ht & reverse gear synchronizer rings as a set.

Our technicians tell us that various dirveability and Check Engine Light issues can be corrected by updating the powertrain control module (PCM) software.

On 4x4 vehicles, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) may not turn off when the "ESP off" button is pressed. Our technicians tell us a software update for the anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module is available for this concern.

Our technicians tell us the "MyGig" radio may become damaged when disconnecting and reconnecting the battery due to electrical spikes. Removal of the 30amp radio fuse is recommended before disconnecting the battery on these vehicles.

An engine overheating condition may develop due to a coolant flow issue. Our technicians tell us that debris may block the cylinder head coolant port at the primary thermostat housing. Removing the debris should correct this concern.

Water leaks may be noted from the front and/or rear roof area. Our technicians recommend to inspect the roof ditch and sunroof - Check all grommets and plugs, reseal roof seams, and replace the sunroof drain tubes if necessary.

Front wheel drive vehicles may develop a fuel gauge fluctuation issue. Our technicians tell us that replacing the fuel sending unit, clocking the fuel module, and installing a fuel jumper hose may be required to correct this concern.

A fluid leak may be noted from the front struts and/or the vehicle may handle "rough" Our technicians tell us that replacing the leaking struts and installing a revised jounce bumper and dust shield should correct these concerns.

The electronic stability program (ESP) "off" chime may sound multiple times when in "4 WD Lock" and the shifter is moved between "R" and "L". Our technicians tell us there is a software upgrade for the anti-lock brake (ABS) module to correct this issue.

A squeak noise may be noted when applying or releasing the clutch pedal. Our technicians tell us that lubricating the clutch master cylinder push-rod ball socket should correct the concern.
