Check Engine Light/Misfire Due to Intake Valve Locks/Valves
An engine misfire at idle (rough idle), accompanied by illumination or flashing of the Check Engine Light, could indicate a problem with one or more of the intake valves. Revised intake valves & valve locks are available to address this concern.
Noisy or Failed Power Door Locks
If the power door locks are buzzing or are intermittently noisy, a new door latch assembly may solve this. The door lock actuators are integrated into the latch assemblies.
Front/Rear Differential Pinion Seal/Transfer Case Leaks are Common
Leaks at the front and/or rear differential pinion seal and from the transfer case are common. Low fluid level in the differential or transfer case can result in bearing failure. Damaged bearings commonly cause a whine or growl type noise.
Ticking Type Noise From Exhaust Manifold Area
Broken exhaust manifold bolts can create an exhaust leak; the exhaust manifold gaskets and bolts should be replaced.
Power Window Motor May Fail
The power window motor commonly fails in the front and rear doors. This may require replacement of the complete window regulator assembly which will include the window motor.
Door Molding May Become Loose on One or Both Front Doors
The door molding may become loose on one or both front doors. Our technicians recommend to replace the molding if this occurs.
Water Leak From the "Flipper" Glass
A water leak may develop from the "flipper" glass. Our technicians tell us that installing an adhesive liner and flipper glass seal should correct this concern.
The Manual Transmission May Jump Out of Gear
The manual transmission may jump out of gear. Our technicians tell us that replacing the 1-2 synchronizer assembly should correct this concern.
The Sky Slider Sunroof May Not Open
The sky slider sunroof may not open. A software upgrade for the control module is available which should correct this concern.
Check Engine Light With Code P1696
The Check Engine Light may illuminate with code P1696. This fault code is for an internal powertrain control module (PCM) error. Reprogramming of the PCM will be necessary to correct this concern.
The Automatic Transmission May Stay in "Default" Mode
The automatic transmission may stay in "default" mode with no fault codes stored. Reprogramming the powertrain control module (PCM) may be necessary to correct this concern.
Popping or Groan Noise When Opening or Closing One or More of the Vehicle Doors
A popping or groan type noise may occur when opening or closing one or more of the vehicle doors. This may be caused bu insufficient lube on the lower hinge roller axle. Applying a small amount of grease between the roller pin and the inside surface should correct this concern. Our technicians tell us if the grease is not applied in the correct location, the noise will remain.
Chirp Type Noise From the Serpentine Belt
Vehicles with a 3.7L V6 engine may develop a chirp type noise from the serpentine belt when the steering wheel is at full lock with the engine idling. Our technicians tell us a revised serpentine belt tensioner is available to correct this concern.
Numerous Causes if Windows Don't Move Smoothly Through Travel
There are a number of checks to perform if the windows do not move smoothly through their travel. It may be interference between parts, the window regulator, or the window run channel.
Moisture May Collect in PCV System and Freeze in Cold Climates
The 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 in very cold climates (below freezing temperatures) moisture can collect in the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system and freeze. This will cause various drivability problems and there are revised PCV system components to repair this concern.
