Chrysler Recalls 1996 Grand Cherokees Due to Electrical System Problem
Electrical & Lights, March 18, 1997

RepairPal Expert Overview

Chrysler has recalled 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokees equipped with the memory seat option. The memory seat module wiring harness can come into contact with the seat spring. If this occurs, a low resistance short circuit may develop, resulting in localized heating. The localized heating may cause the seat cushion to ignite, which may start a vehicle fire. Dealers will relocate the memory seat control module and wiring harness and a protective shield will be installed on the seat frame.
