I took my vehicle in for a check on a repair that was done last summer because I found an oil leak. Jay checked it and found the part had been defective. He immediately replaced the part free of charge and showed me what was done. He explained why there was a defect in the part.

They treated me professionally and politely. They did not pressure you into making any repairs, just politely recommend items after inspecting the car. They are the only ones in Wausau that handle BMW.

I like the work that is done at Jays but my wife and I are not fans of Chris. We feel he is very pushy, and talks to much about things no one cares about.

They are higher priced than other local places. They extremely overcharged me for a battery replacement last time and the desk clerk talked non stop to me even when I ignored him and tried to read. They have repeatedly asked for extra services I didn't need. I won't go back ever again!

by - Verified Customer January 14, 2014

Bill was 100 bucks more than quote. Offered to make it right by fixing a different problem at a reduced price. Their diagnosis was wrong and couldn't fix the problem and still charged for second procedure.

Questions Answered by Jay's Auto Repair
My 1993 Ford Ranger pulls to the right, an...
There are a few things that can cause a pull. Tire pressure, the alignment, wheel bearings, & steering components can affect the steering. Also, a pull does not have to originate from the front of the car, components in the rear of the car can cause a pull as well. You say you replaced the caliper, did you replace both or just one, both calipers should always be replaced. Tires, brakes, springs, and shocks/struts should always be replaced in pairs or sets. If it's still pulling, take it to a professional shop. You can sometimes get the answer very inexpensively if not free.

Customer Concern:
After a battery replacement or vehicle jump start, the Light Emitting Diodes (LED) on the radio are flashing.
Tests/Procedures:
1. This does not mean there are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored in the audio system. Something has failed inside the radio and will need replacement.

2. This problem has been known to happen with a jump start or battery replacement.
Potential Causes:
Radio
Tech Tips:
Chrysler engineers think this happens if the battery is replaced with the key in the "ON" position or if the vehicle is jump started incorrectly.

There is more involved in the rear disc brakes than simply changing the caliper. And since it is a vital safety feature on your car, it is recommended that you take your car to a professional to have this repair done.

From what you have described, it sounds like you might have air in the power steering system. Pull the cap off of the power steering pump and look to see if there are bubbles or foam in the fluid. Just leaving the truck sit overnight might take care of this. Let me know what happens.

The only u-joints on this truck are on the driveshafts and shouldn't cause a problem while turning. What you have described sounds like the transfer case may not be shifting out of 4WD. I would definitely take it to a professional and have them drive it and give you their opinion of the problem. Once you know for sure what the problem is, then you can ask for a cost to replace or repair.
What should it cost to replace the transmi...
My recommendation would be to verify that this rebuilt transmission is coming from a reputable source like GM or Jasper. Ask if there is an extended or upgraded warranty available and buy it if possible. I would also want to know why the transmission failed so a future failure can be prevented. Another good insurance policy would be to replace the radiator because it contains the transmission cooler. The cooler can become restricted with debris that can make it's way into the new transmission or cause a flow restriction that can cause transmission overheating, both of which can cause a failure down the road. But to answer your question, if the transmission comes from a reputable source, then yes, $2200 is a good price. Good luck.
How do you drain the gas tank prior to rem...
This is a dangerous procedure if you don't know what you are doing! Make sure the area is well ventilated and make sure you cause no sparks. I personally know someone who died from burns by not using proper procedures.

1. Remove fuel filler cap.
2. Perform the Fuel System Pressure Release procedure.
3. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
4. Raise vehicle on hoist.
5. Remove quick connect cap from drain port. The drain port is located on rear top of fuel tank. Push a siphon hose into the drain port
6. Drain fuel tank into holding tank or a properly labeled Gasoline safety container.

Check the basics first. Make sure the battery has a full charge, then check all your connections, both at the battery and the at the starter. Also check the ground at the engine. I've seen it several times where a connection can be tight and still lose contact due to corrosion. If they are all good, then check the signal wire to the starter. A test light, between ground and the signal terminal at the solenoid, should light up when turning the key to the start position. If it lights up, then you will probably need to repair or replace the starter.
