Incorrect Assembly of Accelerator Pedal may Increase Risk of Accidents
Incorrect assembly of accelerator pedal may cause you to accidentally press both pedals at the same time or pedal may get stuck on stop. This may increase the chance of an accident.
Jaguar will notify customers of affected vehicles beginning August 11, 2005. If you have not been contacted, notice something strange with your pedals and feel your car falls under this recall. Contact your local dealership. It is helpful to have your VIN Vehicle Identification Number Handy when doing so.
On certain vehicles the accelerator pedal arms were incorrectly assembled. Causing the clearance between the accelerator and the brake pedal to be reduced. This may cause you to step on both the pedals simultaneously and cause a crash. The pedal may also get stuck on the pedal stop, causing a dangerous situation. Dealer will inspect and replace accelerator pedal assembly. The Jaguar recall # is R847

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ARMS WERE INCORRECTLY ASSEMBLED BY THE SUPPLIER. THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL MAY BE REDUCED. THIS CONDITION CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF BOTH PEDALS BEING OPERATED AT THE SAME TIME BY THE DRIVER.
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL COULD BE HELD DOWN BY THE PEDAL STOP ASSEMBLY INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY AND REPLACE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 11, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-800-452-4827.
