A fuel transfer pipe located inside the fuel tank may be kinked, restricting fuel transfer to the fuel pump side of the tank. During low fuel conditions, this can cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will repair the fuel tank assembly to address this concern. This recall is expected to begin by November 30, 2009. The Jaguar recall number is J016.

Summary: JAGUAR IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 VEHICLES. THE FUEL TRANSFER PIPE IN THE FUEL TANK MAY BE KINKED. THIS MAY RESTRICTS FUEL BEING TRANSFERRED FROM ONE SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK TO THE FUEL PUMP CAUSING FUEL STARVATION AT LOW FUEL LEVELS.
Consequence: FUEL STARVATION TO THE ENGINE CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL HAVE THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 30, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-800-452-4827.
