The fuel tank released on some vehicles was a pre-production prototype and had to be replaced prior to vehicle sale. Units were repaired at the dealerships prior to sale. The Jaguar recall number is R177. This recall began on December 13, 2006.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 9

Summary: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES WERE INADVERTENTLY RELEASED AFTER BEING ASSEMBLED WITH PROTOTYPE FUEL TANKS THAT WERE PRODUCED FOR TEST PURPOSES ONLY.

Consequence: THE TANKS WERE MANUFACTURED WITH PROCESSES THAT VARY SIGNIFICANTLY FROM REGULAR PRODUCTION. THE DURABILITY OF THESE PROTOTYPE FUEL TANKS HAS NOT BEEN VALIDATED AND IS UNKNOWN.

Remedy: THESE VEHICLES HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED TO CUSTOMERS AND ARE LOCATED AT DEALER LOTS . THE FUEL TANK WILL BE REPLACED.
