2008 Jaguar S-Type Problems
RepairPal has identified the most common problems with the 2008 Jaguar S-Type based on complaints from actual vehicle owners. We'll tell you what the problem is and what it'll take to fix it.
Improved coolant hoses that are able to withstand cooling system pressure are available (Jaguar Service Bulletin S518). These improved hoses help avoid engine overheating by preventing the coolant hose from inadvertently detaching from the engine.
On this V8 engine, timing chain problems are very common. Because the timing chain tensioners were made from plastic, they can fail prematurely and cause serious engine damage. A noticeable engine noise while idling or during a cold start can indicate a timing chain tensioner problem. The engine noise may also be accompanied by a rough or uneven engine idle. Improved components are available to remedy this problem.
