2003 Chevrolet Tracker

Question: It won't move forward

Question

My daughters 2003 Chevy Tracker made a horrible grinding, clunking type of noise yesterday and it would hardly go forward. She got it home somehow, God's help. This morning I started it up, ok, put it in gear OK, stepped on the gas and horrible noise and did not want to move but a few feet. Put it in reverse and no problems at all. Is this a transmission issue, low fluid or?

Will the vehicle roll forward when the transmission is in neutral engine off, if so that's somewhat a good sign at least nothing is seized or really destroyed. Start the engine with transmission in neutral foot on the clutch to slow down or stop the transmission components from rotating. put the transmission into each gear and see if the noise changes. Its hard to comment exactly what is wrong without being able to experience the problem first hand.
