Bought a replacement bulb from a reputable parts store, followed all directions in replacing it but wouldn't work. Package says its a high/low bulb. Car dealer told me that I needed a low beam bulb and I bought the wrong one, charging me for a second bulb and labor, totaling nearly $40.

Yes, my dealer repair shop replaced it but I'm confused as to why they told me I had purchased the wrong bulb. Package clearly states high/low beam bulb and the staff at the auto parts store (where I bought it yesterday) never asked if I needed specifically a high beam bulb. I guess I'm a little concerned that my deal repair guy took advantage of me by making me buy yet another bulb at $22, not counting labor to install ( took me, a rank amateur, about 10 minutes) when I already had one, and just avoided problems with me by telling me I bought the wrong bulb. So my question remains, are there two separate bulbs for a headlight, a low beam one and a high beam one?

This vehicle has one low beam lamp and one high beam lamp on each side....for a total of four headlight bulbs!!...the parts salesman did in fact sell you the wrong bulb! Which should NOT have fit (correctly) into the headlight assembly!!! Does this answer your question?

Yes, a friend pointed that out to me that there were four headlamp components, two on each side. Thanks for the answer to my question.
