No; The vehicle has an Anti-Theft and the stereo has it's own anti-theft, if factory installed stereo, in the stereo. When battery power is taken away from the stereo it will go into anti-theft mode if a security code has been programmed into it. Apparently your stereo has a code in it. This is in case it gets ripped off. If it doesn't have a code in it, then it will work without having to put the code in. If your the original owner, you would know the code or have forgotten the code. The Dealership can help you with this, with proof of ownership.
