Question: Is my fuel pump bad?

 Rookie

Will the fuel pump run sometimes and not others if it's bad?Changed the filter. Pulled the pump and it worked off the truck put it back and it started twice and now won't start again.

  You'll need to verify that the pump is getting power when it stops working. If the pump is getting power and has a good ground, and the pump is not working, then it is bad.

  Thanks. We checked the above and discovered if you bang on the tank the it will cut on once or twice not every turn of the key. New pump is going on but we are also looking for the location of the fuel pressure regulator. Our truck doesn't have a piece like the autoparts listed as the same thing.Saw a picture but lloking for a description from someone else.
