is it safe to drive car without power steering working? on 2001 Toyota Highlander

as expected, at start up to 10 mph hard to turn, otherwise not difficult to steer; I have heard it might lock up

safe no and it could cause more damage

thanks for speedy reply; what else would be damaged? is it designed to drive as manual steering? dealer says it needs new power steering pump, hoses, rack.

It would never be safe. Get it check out right away.
