Question: Is it safe to change radiator coolant while engine hot ?

I have grand marquis 05 and I heard stories about draining the rediator out in hot engine causes engine damage, is that true ?

What is the estimated time to replace the thermostat and water pump ?
some people told everytime I change the radiator coolant, is this true ?

    its actually better because the thermostat is open and all the coolant can drain.

    water pump and thermostat is about a 3 hour job.

    no, no engine damage from changing the coolant when hot.

    I need to understand this point
    I don't really know the perfect way to change radiator coolant but
    sometimes I think if I drained out the old coolant when the engine hot
    and replaced it with new cold coolant that will damage the engine, am I right ?

    You dont have to replace water pump and thermostate every time when you changing your coolant unless has sign of problem.Like water pump leak or slow engine worm up.
