Question: Is it reasonable at 95,000 miles and regular service, to need a head gasket?

Shop says my fluctuating heater and occasional loss of power are due to head gasket problem. $2600 job. Is this plausible?

    Find another shop. Have the cooling system test for hydrocarbons to verify head gasket problem.
    If it is a overhead cam 4.0 V-6 pray that the head gaskets are allright. If it's 4.0 overhead valve than $2600 is to high.
