2003 Hyundai Elantra Question: is an exhaust leak repair part of replacing the catalytic converter?

 Rookie

when having my oil changed, I was told I had a major exhaut leak and it was affecting my gas mileage.

when I bought the car I knew the cat would need to be repaired before my next emission inspection.

the engine light is always on.

    Maybe, maybe not! But you can have them both fixed at the same time. No way to tell without looking at the system.
