If the belt breaks does it always cause other damage?

    It is an INTERFERENCE engine!!! Sometimes you may get lucky and it not damage the engine if the belt brakes, MAYBE! Just replace the belt and componets with water pump at the recommended intervals and no worries! This is for either one of the 2.0 engines since you did not say which you have!! DOHC or SOHC?? Water pump replacement is a must on these engines when replacing the timing belt!

    Uh..........Did your timing belt break?
