problem happened all of a sudden. when in park or doing so engine idle sputters. more like up and down idle. when coming to a stop at a light or waiting for the light to change... idle rise and drop, and stall. while driving there seems to be no problem and after stall.. engine starts right up. auto zone ran a code..po171..???when pulling into a stall to park engine idles irradically, lunges with rise and fall of idle and then stalls. codes are po171 and po174...thankyou

P0171 and P0174 indicate that the engine is running too lean (too little fuel) on both cylinder banks.
First thing I'd look for is an air leak between the airflow meter and the throttle. That could cause the symptoms and set those codes. Check for loose clamps and for a split in the rubber intake duct.
Second thing, if there are no intake leaks, I'd suspect the airflow meter (MAF) is failing. If so, it would show on a scanner by reading data from the computer.
If you don't have a scanner that reads data, you may want to find a Ford specialist or a auto emissions or diagnostic shop.
