2001 Nissan Pathfinder Question: Interior lighting issue

I'm having 30 second timer issues.
The cargo ceiling light works correctly. Off, door open on, and on. But the main cabin light is supposed to have a 30 second timer and varies modes. What I get are constant on, still constant on (does turn off in the 30 MINUTES, though), or off. Earlier today I had installed LED units in these locations, and had to remove ONE immediately.

The main cabin interior light burned out (smoked) after 45 seconds (I think it touched the plastic cover and overheated).

I replaced them all back to original OEM bulbs.

My question is now concerning the 30 second timer which is now not working (properly?). The bulb is constantly on in ON_and_DOOR modes. I tested this by using my remote to lock the vehicle, and by turning on the engine, both of which should have interrupted the 30 second timer. The trunk OEM (also LED) functions by OFF/ON/ and ON when the door is open (don't think this was ever on delay mode). The map light OEM (also LED) functions properly either ON/OFF.

Is it possible for the 30 second timer to have shorted out? Where is it?
For the cabin light Constant ON operates off of a ground in the body and the powered cable, and DOOR functions solely through the pair of wires, which disappear into the interior towards the passenger side.

---Fuses seem to check out... which would make sense. If it blew the fuse, it shouldn't work at all, I would think.---
---I removed all interior LEDs altogether. Same issue with main cabin light if all are OEM or direct replacement LED.---

Why would you want to put LED bulbs in?

Adding LED units would brighten the interior. They are quite a bit brighter than stock lighting. I was just replacing the stock bulbs, not say, adding movie theater style track lighting.
