1997 Acura Integra Question: Integra automatic transmission questions

I have a 97 integra, (automatic, 4 cyl, 1.8L, dohc, non vtech, w/ cruise and a/c) I was wondering two things:

1) how much labor time should I plan to pay to have the transmission r&r done?

2) (probably a little late to ask since I already have a trans on the way, lol) my two mechanics completely disagree on what's wrong with my car so here's the symptom: when leaving from a stop(or near stop like turning a corner under 15-20 mph) it has a horrible shudder and no power, then suddenly "catches" or whatever and is fine. One of my mechanics did something to my ignition timing which made the shudder less violent but happen at a wider range of rpms & speeds, it now feels like a miss and happens all the time.

    6 hours is about right for the R&R job. Do you have any Check Engine Light codes? It would be wise to check, also if your transmission is failing the trans computer will have codes to verify that.

    No codes, (other than maintain. req'd light doing a ten flash code every so often, I thought that meant an IAT code but I've been told that's not possible because it's supposed to glow not flash?) but the problem doesn't happen when the car is completely cold if that helps any? Also, it was having other trans symptoms before like slipping and this crazy shifting that would dog down really hard and then lunge forward super quick. One of the guys who works on my car did a (machine, I think) flush of my tranny fluid which fixed everything but the shudder, after that is when he recommended replacing my transmission.
