Question: inteference engine

Visitor, 2.3L 4 Cylinder, Warrior, AL, May 25, 2010, 07:50

Yesterday engine quit due to broke timing belt, had it towed home ,replaced belt and it has a ticking noise at cam cover,is there damage to valves and pistons, and what needs to be done?

    Did you change the tensioner while you had it apart? http://www.napaonline.com/Search/MultiImagePopup.aspx?A=N... My book doesn't show it being a interference engine so maybe the bearing in the tensioner is bad

    Mr. Hemi I thank you for reply.It seems when viscosity of the oil break down due to lack of change, this ticking starts.Thanks again! Say you gotta Hemi?
