Report: Insulation Degrades on Engine Wiring Harness and Leaves Conductors Exposed
Mercedes-Benz SL500 Problem
Model Years Affected: 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997
Average Mileage: 91,000 mi (76,000 mi - 107,000 mi)
The engine wiring can degrade because the insulating material falls off leaving the bare wire exposed. This can cause many problems depending on which wires are exposed and what they touch.

Car starts up great, however when I drive approximately 15 miles when i stop for a red light the car stops running. It will not restart until the engine is cool. I just replaced the crank sensor($165.00)
It did nnot help. I have gone through the firing system to no avail. anyone have any suggestions?Flag ThisLike | 1 person likes this1 -

Main wiring harnesses (3) were degraded and required replacement. DIY Sourced main fuel injector harness from Ann Arbor and remainder from Peach Parts online. Replaced ABS wiring as well.
