Question: Instrument panel lights and gauges go on/off

My speedometer and tach, along with all the instrument panel lights go on and off at will. Sometimes the gauges go off but the warning lights are still on, etc. This happens frequently, but not under any particular circumstances. Can't tell how fast I'm going or if I have gas!

    It appears that it must be some kind of short or defect in the clustrer itself. What needs to be done first is cluster to be removed for a visual check (maybe a loose connection) and then reconnect if problem still there then cluster needs to replaced or repaired
