I am a female who has changed air filters before but my 2006 Scion XA seems complicated. how do I get to the air filter? Can I do this myself?

    The air filter is on the right side of the engine compartment as you look into the engine compartment from the grill (driver's side). The filter is in a black plastic housing/box the size of a shoe box. The housing splits in two (lid comes off) it is secured by clips that just pop off.

    The problem I've had with taking off the air filter cover: You have to pull out the thick air hose to get to the air filtrer, so have to unsrew the clamp, but then the hose still does not come off, couldn't get it off at all this time, although I did this about a year ago successfully...
