MB should have covered this. Everyone I know with '98 or '99 had this problem. I paid MB dealer to "fix." They painted top coat. Surface worn off again. And my car is a one person car! Really sad. Have 86,000 now, but resurface was failing within a few thousand miles.

convertible top button holder in center console broke. moves around and affects electrical wires. Shop fixed but breaks again very easily. Plus covering (top rubber-like layer)on center console rubs off...visually unattractive but not a safety hazard.

vinyl paint used to cover interior panels has been continuously flaking off to reveal black of underlying material.
I have those issues. and cracking issues with the dash and glove box, and center console.
