Center console, glove compartment and door handle paint coming off.
Center console laminate peeling. Looks horrid.

No known fix as of yet. We are at 125K now and can not locate anything that will hold!
MB should have covered this. Everyone I know with '98 or '99 had this problem. I paid MB dealer to "fix." They painted top coat. Surface worn off again. And my car is a one person car! Really sad. Have 86,000 now, but resurface was failing within a few thousand miles.

Many interior parts have the paint wearing away showing a black color - looks terrible.
The passenger side panel is coming unglued: it is a grey on black panel and the grey will meed to be re-glued: it is warping away from the black panel on it's leading and back sides
Recently purchased this car. Coating on console, interior door handles, dashboard and glove compartment feels sticky and chips off easily. I understand that this is a problem with SLKs that Mercedes has known about for many tears but chose not to address. Have heard that the only solution is to remove all parts, strip coating and repaint/recoat,

Yes, makes the car look terribly aged and ugly.
convertible top button holder in center console broke. moves around and affects electrical wires. Shop fixed but breaks again very easily. Plus covering (top rubber-like layer)on center console rubs off...visually unattractive but not a safety hazard.
vinyl paint used to cover interior panels has been continuously flaking off to reveal black of underlying material.
I have those issues. and cracking issues with the dash and glove box, and center console.
Door cards just started to come loose when I shut the door.remove and use no nails to reseal them..
Interior vinyl on center consoling is delaminating.
