MB should have covered this. Everyone I know with '98 or '99 had this problem. I paid MB dealer to "fix." They painted top coat. Surface worn off again. And my car is a one person car! Really sad. Have 86,000 now, but resurface was failing within a few thousand miles.
The passenger side panel is coming unglued: it is a grey on black panel and the grey will meed to be re-glued: it is warping away from the black panel on it's leading and back sides
Drivers door panel delaminated. Took it to an interior specialist to have it reglued. Paint is also peeling off interior consoles revealing black color underneath. Car only has 12,000 miles.
Recently purchased this car. Coating on console, interior door handles, dashboard and glove compartment feels sticky and chips off easily. I understand that this is a problem with SLKs that Mercedes has known about for many tears but chose not to address. Have heard that the only solution is to remove all parts, strip coating and repaint/recoat,
convertible top button holder in center console broke. moves around and affects electrical wires. Shop fixed but breaks again very easily. Plus covering (top rubber-like layer)on center console rubs off...visually unattractive but not a safety hazard.
