Airbags use a chemical reaction contained in an inflator module to create the pressure necessary to inflate the bags when deployment is required. These vehicles are being recalled because the front passenger airbag inflator may produce excessive internal pressure when deployed. As a result, the inflator module could rupture, causing metal fragments to strike vehicle occupants. Dealers will inspect and replace any defective passenger front airbag inflator modules found.

RepairPal Expert Overview:
The brake caliper holds the brake pads in the proper position and squeezes them against the brake rotor when the brakes are applied. These Pathfinder and JX vehicles are being recalled because the one or both of the front brake caliper assemblies may have been manufactured incorrectly. These calipers can crack, causing it to move and contact the inside of the wheel. Dealers will inspect the affected parts and replace them as necessary.
For Models: Infiniti JX35
RepairPal Expert Overview:
Due to an assembly issue, the fuel transfer tube may be misrouted inside the fuel tank. As a result, the fuel level float may be prevented from dropping as the fuel is consumed and the fuel guage may read a fuel level higher than actually exists. If the fuel gauge does not accurately show when the tank is becoming empty, the vehicle may run out of gas unexpectedly, stalling, and increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and re-route the fuel transfer tube and install a new O-ring to correct this concern.
For Models: Infiniti M45
RepairPal Expert Overview:
Due to a circuit board failure, the fuel gauge may indicate a fuel level higher than what actually exists. As a result, the vehicle may run out of gas without warning, causing the vehicle to stall, which can cause a crash. Dealers will modify the affected circuit board to correct this concern.
For Models: Infiniti M37, Infiniti M56, Infiniti QX56, Nissan JUKE
RepairPal Expert Overview:
On certain vehicles, the fuel pressure sensor may not have been tightened to the correct specification. As a result, the fuel pressure sensor may loosen due to heat and vibration, causing a fuel leak. Fuel leaks always increase the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel pressure sensor to correct this concern.
For Models: Infiniti Q45
RepairPal Expert Overview:
The wiring connector for the seat mounted airbag may experience increased electrical resistance and may not deploy. In the event of a crash, non-deployment of the side airbags could increase the risk of personal injury. Dealers will modify the wiring connector to correct this concern.
For Models: Infiniti FX35, Infiniti FX50, Infiniti M37, Infiniti M56, Nissan Frontier, Nissan NV1500, Nissan Pathfinder, Nissan Xterra
RepairPal Expert Overview:
Some of the bolts that attach the engine oil cooler and filter to the engine may have been manufactured below specification strength. As a result, the bolt may break at the oil filter attachment point, which can cause an engine oil leak. Loss of too much engine oil can result in loss of oil pressure and the engine could seize, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the connector bolts to correct this concern.
For Models: Infiniti G37, Nissan 370Z
RepairPal Expert Overview:
The power window switches were incorrectly manufactured. The auto-reverse feature does not operate and a pinch injury may result before the window reverses direction. Dealers will replace the power window switches to correct this concern.
For Models: Infiniti QX4, Nissan Pathfinder
RepairPal Expert Overview:
In areas where winter road salt is used, a mixture of snow/water and salt may enter an assembly location hole in the upper strut housing. This corrosive mixture can collect on the mating surface of the strut housing panel and the inner hood ledge assembly; over time, this can cause rusting of the strut tower housing. The rust can weaken the housing, causing it to crack and pull away from the inner hood ledge assembly. This can lead to grinding noises and increased steering effort, which, if severe enough, can cause the steering column to break. This would result in a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the strut housing and repair the vehicles as necessary. An interim notification letter should be mailed to owners prior to May 16, 2011.
For Models: Infiniti QX4, Nissan Pathfinder
Summary: NISSAN IS RECALLING FORTY-SIX CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2002 PATHFINDER AND INFINITI QX4 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 24, 2001 THROUGH AUGUST 28, 2001. THE AIR BAG INFLATOR CONTAINS PROPELLANT WAFERS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO PROPERLY DEPLOY THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG. DUE TO IMPROPER PROPELLANT WAFER INSTALLATION DURING THE AIR BAG INFLATOR ASSEMBLY PROCESS, SOME AIR BAG INFLATORS MAY BE MISSING ONE OF THE WAFERS. AS A RESULT, THE REMAINING WAFERS IN THE INFLATOR USED FOR THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG MAY, OVER TIME, BREAK UP INTO POWDER DUE TO NORMAL VIBRATION EXPERIENCED WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSES THE COMBUSTION RATE OF THE PROPELLANT TO INCREASE INSIDE THE INFLATOR, WHICH CAN LEAD TO INTERNAL PRESSURE RISING SUDDENLY DURING AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT.
