RepairPal Expert Overview:

A problem with the steering column may cause a failure in the upper steering bearing, which can lead to increased play in the steering wheel and a loss of vehicle control, either of which can result in an unsafe driving condition. Dealers will replace affected steering wheel column parts free of charge.

In certain vehicles the hood release cable may have been installed incorrectly, as a result the latch may not fully engage, leaving the secondary latch in the open position with the hood is closed. If the primary hood latch is released and the secondary latch fails while driving the hood could open unexpectedly, blocking the driver's vision and increasing the risk of a crash. To correct this concern dealers will modify the angle of the hood release mechanism to provide additional length to the release cable.

The vehicle's front hubs were assembled with too little torque on fasteners, resulting in a loose assembly that does not attach the brakes correctly. Faulty braking may result, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will tighten loose fasteners to correct specification to correct this concern.

The fuel pressure sensor may not have been sufficiently tightened during vehicle production. As a result, the fuel pressure sensor may loosen over time resulting in a fuel leak. Any fuel leak increases the risk of a fire. Nissan / Infiniti dealers will replace the fuel pressure sensor as necessary to correct this concern.

This limited regional recall is for vehicles currently registered or first sold in southern Florida, along the Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Saipan and American Samoa. Upon deployment the passenger airbag inflator could rupture, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the passenger side air bag inflator to correct this concern.

In the affected vehicles the driver's front airbag may have been manufactured with and incorrect part. This part may block the flow of propellant when the airbag is deployed. This could cause the airbag to rupture, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the driver's front airbag to correct this concern.

Due to a software issue, the electric motor may stop while the vehicle is being driven in the electric motor only mode. The stall-like condition that occurs would increase the risk of a crash. Infiniti dealers will reprogram the motor inverter software to correct the concern.

A engine control module (ECM) may temporarily lose a signal from one of the engine management system's throttle position sensors (TPS). If this occurs, loss of power followed by sudden unintended acceleration can occur. Dealers will reprogram the ECM free of charge to correct the problem.

The transmission housing may have been damaged during manufacturing and may fracture. This can disable the vehicle create road debris. Dealers will inspect the transmission assembly for cracks and replace them as needed free of charge to resolve the concern.

This limited regional recall is for vehicles currently registered or first sold in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and equipped with Takata-brand air bag inflators. Upon deployment the driver and/or passenger airbag inflator could rupture, increasing the risk of personal injury. Honda dealers will replace the affected airbag inflator modules to correct this concern.
