It's necessary to determine for sure what is wrong without just guessing. Most keys have a chip in them to identify the key being used as being a match for that car (for the anti-theft system) then there is a computer that gets a signal that the car is using the right key and the computer then controls the fuel injection and ignition system to allow the engine to start and run. It's not easy to diagnose without proper scan tool to see if proper signals are being transmitted.
