In the last week I have notice that my Tranmission slip sometime 99% of the time on 2001 Ford Focus

Is the tranmission going bad or should just change the fluid and filter

YOU CAN SERVICE THE TRANS BUT ITS A CRAP SHOT ON IF IT WILL HELP OR KILL IT TOTALLY. I WOULD GOOD LUCK
Odds are that it is going bad.Something is worn, hardened,or damaged if you have that symptom. Not unexpected on a car of that vintage, especially if it didn't see much transmission service in it's life.
Front wheel drive transmissions are expensive to deal with, probably not economic.
I recently replaced the transmission(the best way, with a dealer installed reman unit) in my 2002 Taurus wagon-the cost was more than 3k,but the rest of the car was in pretty good shape, and the car suits my purpose ideally.Time will tell if it was a worthwhile investment.
Thanks Man for that Info
