My honda is AT. The problem I am having is that my brake lights are not working, no fuse is blown and the bulbs are good. Also, I am unable to switch out of PARK regularly by depressing the brake pedal and starting the ignition. I have to insert key into the shift-lock hole to disengage it place it into NEUTRAL, then start the ignition and place it into DRIVE. I have been having this problem for bout 6months now and I can't find a good answer. I am in Italy and I need help! I was told by a mechanic that I need to replace my Brake Light Switch as well as a solenoid (Inside the shifter), I believe. Could anyone help me in locating the exact switch/solenoid on my vehicle. and what site would be good in finding such parts? Could the brake light switch be the main part needed in solving both problems?

Thank you

I'd say check out the brake light switch first. The fact that the shift interlock AND the brake lights don't work suggests that the brake switch is faulty or not adjusted right. You should be able to find it at the upper end of the brake pedal. Get out your meter or testlight and test it, or jump the terminals and see of things work again. That'd be a strong hint that it's the switch. That's an easy fix.
