Noise on Startup Due to Failing Timing Chain Tensioner on Hyundai Entourage

If you experience excessive engine noise on startup (after the engine has been turned off for several hours) that lasts for more than five or six seconds, turn off the engine and check that the engine oil level is correct. If the oil level is correct, the noise may be caused by the timing chain tensioner. Hyundai has an improved tensioner to correct this problem.

Problem: upon starting a cold engine the engine would run rough as if the timing was off. after several seconds, less than 10, the noise would stop and the engine would run correctly. I experienced this problem with proper oil level height indicated but it still wasnt at the upper limit on the dip stick. I performed an oil change with Lucas Oil oil treatment and ensured the oil level was at the upper limit as indicated on the dip stick. Noise went away for about 4k miles and then returned. no oil leaks and i am not consuming oil through the engine.
At the shop now. Fucillo Hyundai said it will cost us $1500.00 to fix. We went in to get oxygen sensor replaced and for an inspection. Looks like we aren't gonna pass the inspection. We hope they can fix it enough to let us save up for the timing chain. Wow! Unbelievable! :-(
