Answer #1
Looking at the replacement procedure for replacing the electrical portion of the switch portion seems simple once the trim panels at the lower side of the dash are removed, labor rate shows .5 hour add .4 hours if the car has airbags!!!!
To replace the mechanical portion of the ignition lock assemble is more complex, labor rate is shown at 1.5 hours and having instructions with illustrations would be important if you are going to do this yourself. Look at Autozone's website they have some repair manuals for popular vehicles on line for free once you register (for free) on there website. There is a company that independent auto repair shops "buy" their information from that offer a very reasonable service to do it yourselvers. You get a one year subscription to year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... great quality information same as the professionals have ,much better than generic workshop manuals from parts stores, much cheaper than the factory manual. http://www.alldatadiy.com/
