ignition key stuck on 1996 Audi A6 Quattro

my ignition key is stuck in the switch. How can I get in unstuck?

i'm betting you just had an ignition switch replaced? if thats the case i bet the shift cable on top of the ignition lock was put back on with a kink in it. for this you need to remove the cluster and bend/flex it back into shape. if no switch was done does the shifter go all the way up into park. coins sometimes fall into the shifter and block full engagement. these are the two most likely i've seen.

Other than jiggling the key, moving the steering wheel and possibly the shifter, there's not much else you can do. If the key is stuck, it may very well be that the ignition switch has failed. Do you have an original key or is this a copy of an original?
I have had this happen, had to use a pair of pliers to turn it out, its hard but your ignition may be jammed.Try alternatives before doing this.
I hope you've solved this problem but if not here are your options:
a. Take a paper clip straighten one end.
b. On the outer ring of the ignition switch there is a very small hole.
c. Stick the straight end of the paper clip in that hole until you hear a click
sound then remove the key.
