ignition key on 2000 Jeep Wrangler

If i have a theft deterrent microchip in my key do I need to go to a jeep dealer to copy this key?

Yes, you have to go to the dealership for new keys, as they have to matched correctly to your ignition switch/cylinder.

Jeep issued a recall on the ignition switch because the switch could short-circuit in the presence of water or impurities.
