1998 Toyota Camry Q&A
1998 Toyota Camry Question: ignition coil faulty?
I have an intermitant problem with 98 camry. Car looses power, rough idle & stalls (can keep it from stalling if I notice it's about to stall and keep foot on the accelerator). Happened twice in 10 days. The problem disappears and I've driven over 500 miles between episodes withou a problem. Could it be a coil pack about to go? What's your best guess? - joepe2010
We don't like to guess as to what "might" be causing the problem. We promote diagnosing problems to determine the cause, and that is what you should do. This forum is littered with people who replace a bunch of parts and never fix the problem. Be smart, don't be one of those people, pay for a professional to diagnose this for you. - Bret Bodas
Just was told that the bucking and chugging of my car was due to faulty ignition coil(s). I don't want to over pay to have them replaced.
have no way to test igniter. can a bad igniter cause the coil not to emit a charge to the distributer. Also put logic tester to coil wire leading to distributer and got a low green light with key o...
it takes about thirty min to restart....i changed the fuel pump, filter, ignition coil and continues to turn off.
i was driving down the road and my car just died without any warning, now it want crank back up, the battery is fine, its got oil, and water, no warning gauges lit up, what could it be??
