ignition coil on 2003 Ford Taurus

I had the ignition coil replaced a couple of weeks ago. No problems until today. I was running errands this afternoon and my car hesitated to start. After my next stop, the car wouldn't start. I tried several times and eventually got it going. Would the ignition coil cause this problem?

The Taurus engine I looked up has one "coil pack" that feeds spark to all 6 cylinders if it fails it certainly will cause the problem you describe but there are so many other possibilities from a false sensor reading to bad wiring, or connections to fuel delivery problems. Some basic diagnostic tests need to be done. Your car has on board diagnostics hopefully a fault is recognized and stored in the computer of your car.
