2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Question: if i replace the lock cylinder will i need new key?

 Rookie

i had what i thought was the ignition switch replaced on my Pontiac grand prix gtp 2001. i am still having same problems. i am now being told that what i had replaced was the lock cylinder if that is in fact true wouldn't i have received new key?

    you should have a new key with the cylinder.

    A locksmith may be able to re-key the lock for you so that the ignition key is the same as door and trunk. Newer VW you can order an ignition lock with a "matching key" but it takes them a ridicules amount of time.
