if heater core is not replaced can it cause engine damage

    As long as the heater core hoses are properly rerouted back to the engine, no- it won't damage the engine. But living in NY in the middle of winter and driving a car with no heat or defrost function, you'll be sorry you made that decision to eliminate the heater.
