If a A/C Compressor has seized up can that cause drive-belt too split in two? on 1990 Cadillac DeVille

required to give a year the correct year is 1987 V-8, 4.1L. Just purchased a 1987 Cadillac Deville both the seller and myself on two separate occasions replaced the drive-belt and both belts were identical in looks when split into two pieces. Splits in belt occurred in lowest cluster of accessories pulleys at the bottom of engine. When a compressor has seized will it cause belts to split? Will the belt fail even if operated in economy mode where compressor is not to come on? When a compressor seizes up is the only remedy too just replace entire compresser?

HERE IS THE NAPA - AC COMPRESSOR BYPASS PULLEY PART NUMER - (NOE 6601811) LESS THAN $40.00!! COMPRESSOR WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED WITH THIS OR ANOTHER COMPRESSOR --- 'IF' NEEDED!!!! MAY BE SOMETHING ELSE CAUSING BELT PROBLEM. Usually a split belt is due to a misalignment of the pulleys or incorrect installiation. Only way to be sure compressor doesn't engage and that is to unhook wire connector from the compressor, as even in ecno. mode will come on when defrost is selected.
