Question: Idles high in park and neutral, no service engine light when key is turned, ABS light

 Rookie

I changed the engine & transmission out, replacing the engine & transmission seals & the PCM. Now it idles high in park and neutral. It also shifts rough in and out of those gears.

When driving, the ABS light came on after two stops and stayed on until I shut the car off. Pumping the brakes with the engine running in the garage does not turn on the light.

    I would think you have a vacuum leak, that would account for the high idle in park and neutral, as well as the shifting hard into park and reverse. Vac routing problems and leaks are extremely common after an engine replacement, as are ground/wiring problems.

    The proper method for removing the engine and transaxle in that vehicle is to remove from the bottom with the cradle. The front wheel ABS speed sensors have long harnesses that are run along and attached to the control arm. It is possible that the wiring was damaged there.
