I have an 88 isuzu i-mark that is having problems with idling. it starts fine, but when i press on the gas pedal the throttle will stick and when i let off of the pedal it will stick for a moment and then the throttle falls until the car dies. i'm thinking its the fast idle control device, but am not sure. please let me know if you have any ideas of what the problem is

I would clean the throttle body, if is is full of carbon, it will stick like you are experiencing. Also, be sure that your throttle cable is in good shape and not frayed and thus sticking in the cable housing.
After you clean the throttle body, re-set the idle hard stop by warming up the engine and then unplugging the idle motor. You want the car to barely idle, like 500 rpm with the idle motor unplugged, then when you plug in the idle motor, the idle should go to 800 or so.
