It could one of many problems and foolish to speculate without being able to do some basic diagnostic test. I work on and have owned many Toyotas. At a guess I would check/replace the spark plugs, on removing the spark plugs see if there is oil down in the spark plug tubes down the center of the cylinder head if there is the Valve cover needs to be removed to replace the spark plug tube seals (inexpensive repair), next look at the spark plug wire and distributor cap, look at the rotor, make sure there is not oil in the distributor or the seal has failed and you will need a distributor. Closely inspect the air induction boot between the air filter housing and throttle housing for rips replace if needed. Hope this check list helps.
