Dealership said it's the oil cooler. They replaced easily accessible gaskets. It still leaked. Now to replace oil cooler is $4,000 and/or repair the O rings . Insurance company won't cover unless it was directly caused by the accident. Dealership says these things wear out. What is the average life expectancy of a part like this? Could a rear-ended accident caused? Need advice. Thank you. Sabrina

Sabrina, sorry to here about your frustrating situation but I would highly recommend you to seek a second opinion from a new set of eyes to confirm what might be faulty and only then focus as to what/why is your vehicle leaking oil? Mileage related? Excessive crankcase pressure? (By the way knowing your mileage & 17 digit vin# would be very helpful to us within the repair pal network) Common to your specific make/model? Hopefully their is some sort of documentation stating your concern of said oil leak post accident to the body shop. In the event it may be related to accident. You wouldn't want to be view as "negligent" in anyway. So I would urge you to have vehicle towed into wherever you decide to seek the second opinion. Once 2nd opinion from a certified automotive technician/facility has been established. If it happens to be in fact related or anything remotely possible . I usually encourage our clients to hire another independent insurance inspector to confirm the findings and have a clear cut vision of what possibly occurred and why. Hope this is helpful and wish you and your oil leak situation a smooth and harmonious resolution. Needless to say I do NOT recommend driving vehicle because the consequences could lead to severe engine damage. Best of wishes moving forward Sabrina.
