I want to order muffler online, bring to shop. Is that a problem?Pay only labor? on 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Muffler is rusted and falling off. How much should it be just for labor? Do mechanics have a problem with you bringing your own parts?

Many do have a problem with what you suggest...To many of us its like taking a steak to a resturant to have them cook it for you. Most shops operate on the profits of the parts and the labor. Takes a lot of investment in rent, equipment, training, insurance....and on and on. I suggest if you are trying to save a few bucks is take your car to shop that does exhaust work as a specality. Likey it could be done in a muffler shop for less than you can buy a muffler on line.
