I replace the uper and lower intake gaskets because the lower intake gasket was leaking small amounts of coolant into the cylinders and the water passages were leaking outward from the rear and front of the head where the intake mounts. i replaced both the upper and lower intake gaskets using all proper procedures. but now i still have a small leak somewhere. i was wondering if my leak could be caused from the water pump. this is a 3.5 liter and the pump is belt driven. i assume that this pump is similar to the 2.7 liter and has a weap hole to keep coolant out of the oil and off other componants. the leak doesnt show under a standard coolant pressure test. but when you let the car run, it starts to slowly leak the leak gets worse as you jack the car up or lower it. what i need to know is if this weap hole feeds into the vally on the top of the block. if so would this explaine my problem.

no,the weep hole does not feed the valley. you need a shop to insert a dye to determine the point that is leaking.

the 2.7 motor the water pump is driven by the timing chain and the 3.5 motor the water pump is driven by the timing belt that pump has a weap hole at the bottem of the water pump and when the pump is bad the antyfreeze leaks inside the timing cover, now you said the leak is under the intake then something is wrong in that place, the 2.7 water pump has a weap hole in it mating to the block that send the coolent to the left side front this is a weap for that water pump. if its wasnt set up that way coolent would be in the oil and you would have motor damage, we would be glade to look at your car for you, so give us a call!
